A Collection of Unconventional thoughts about Purpose and Meaning.
Hello There!
As we set our minds to think about our passion and purpose, we tend to use those terms interchangeably. We believe passion and purpose can drive us, to move forward and create abundant growth in return. However, to some people, this can be a heavy process.
As we researched the meaning of purpose and passion, we came across unconventional thoughts that can help those who want to navigate passion and purpose easily.
Would you do what you do if no one is watching?
As a great way to start unpacking those terms, you can start by asking this simple question. As humans, we tend to see ourselves in linear form, growing in a linear process. We sometimes forget the simple things we do, which make us happy. Start being conscious of what you would do that is both fulfilling, pleasing, and purposeful to you. Consider how these things make you light up. Imposing such a strong question can help you boil down all the interesting things that you could potentially add to your list.
The definition of meaning
There is another point relating to finding meaning. When we say meaning, it is a noun, and it is heavily used to describe other nouns or even verbs. We tend to yearn to find the meaning of why we live or what it means for us to live; what is out there for me that is meaningful. But to have that "meaning" we should be willing to move and act. We should have skin in the game; to create meaningful conversations, meaningful lives, meaningful relationships etc.… It is not something that you hope for. it is something that you strive for.
Passion Vs. Purpose
We interchangeably use passion and purpose. However, there is a slight difference between both. Emotions and feelings move passion. It happens when there is a fire in you when you're excited. It is defined as the Ebb and Flow. However, purpose is all about the bigger picture, the ability to stand still regardless of your feelings or challenges. With clarity, you become a superhero who can achieve anything you set your mind.
The feeling of nonfulfillment
We can be regarded as high achievers. Those who have it all. Career, Home, Marriage, children, & financial security. However, we still get that feeling of nonfulfillment.
Somehow an emptiness and yearning to want something that is not quite unknown to us.
We believe that there is something out there that we yet need to achieve. One way to tone it down is to be grateful for the different stages of our life, but be proactive in uncovering your hidden truths that have not surfaced yet. The moment we see ourselves as explorers on earth, we feel abundant opportunities coming our way.
We're complex humans, and our thoughts don't swim in silos.
Beliefs have a solid connection to purpose and meaning in your life. Values, ideas, and passion do not work in silos. Instead, everything is interrelated. For example, you believe in finding truth and transparency, which could potentially allow you to be a journalist who publishes an agency on those values and grounds. Simon Sinek strongly believes in a purpose-driven cause that can enable corporations, governments, politicians, and society to move towards that purpose. Without understanding our inner compass, we can't sail to our destination.
Don't forget your Gut feeling.
We often like to weigh our options and become super logical in our thoughts. We tend to forget that intuition can help in the decision-making process too. Your gut feeling can sometimes be the sixth sense that guides you forward. One way to tap into this strong intuition is to meditate and write about how you feel about something.
Human Connection
Spend time with people who can help you grow. The thought might sound cliche, but once you surround yourself with people with similar intellectual views, you tend to share ideas and be super inspired to find a way to navigate your life. They might be the hand that will levitate your spirit and help you achieve your goals.
Life is an experiment
Aren't we in a simulation after all? It is all about experimentation. Our life is a vast experiment. With an abundant mindset, you'll be able to navigate life as colossal experimentation. Whatever you choose is not a good or bad option; think of what it is possible to create if this experimentation time ends.
In case you haven't figured it out yet, don't worry. People change, their goals change, and their passions change.
